Martie & Officer Douglas Receive Award

Animart's Capital K9 Martie and his handler Officer Rose Douglas are to receive an award for Meritorious Track in October 2010 at the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Canine Handlers Association Conference.

The synopsis resulting in the award;  On 06-08-10 at approximately 11:56 PM officer’s were sent to the Citgo gas station at 4905 Commercial Ave, due to an alarm.  When the officers arrived on the scene they discovered a broken glass pane and observed cigar packages discarded on the pavement near the rear of the business.  PO Douglas and K9 Martie arrived on scene shortly thereafter to assist with a track of the suspects.  K9 Martie tracked behind the Citgo over a fence and through some tall grass.  K9 Martie then tracked across two lanes of highway and into a median ditch, continuing across two more lanes of highway into an apartment complex.  K9 Martie tracked over an additional fence and continued through the apartment complex on pavement, eventually, tracking his way to a particular apartment where officer’s made contact and eventually found several items linking the suspects to the burglary.
